Mr "59" Al Geiberger and Bruce Devlin recall the early days of shenanigans at Sawgrass CC when Gary McCord played "high ball" in a barber's chair and JC Snead couldn't keep his hat on, "FORE the Good of the Game."

California native Al Geiberger played high school golf with Charles Schwab and collegiate golf for Stan Wood at USC where he competed in 3 L.A. Opens while in school. He turned professional in 1959 at age 22 and went on to win 30 professional events including 11 wins on the PGA Tour and 10 victories on the Senior Tour. Al won the 1966 PGA Championship at Firestone ad the 1975 Tournament Players Championship at Colonial CC. In 1977, Al won the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic without scoring a round in the 60's, shooting a second-round 59 (-13), the first sub-60 score ever recorded in competition. He played on two victorious Ryder Cup teams in 1967 and 1975 and was inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame class of USC Athletics.
